Generational Lables

Here at 10studios we feel documentary films can be utilized as a great educational tool.  Recently I watched a documentary concerning the appropriate label which analyzes the current generation of Americans bequeathed with the job of creating change.  Ben, Adam, Matt, and Wigs are four guys with The Young Americans Project who travel the lower 48 states for three months asking young adults numerous questions on multiple topics such as family, pop culture, drugs, sex, technology, race, etc.  Their adventurous pursuit for knowledge is documented in the film Our Time.

The reoccurring question, "What is the name of your generation?" really resonated with me.  First, the New Oxford American Dictionary defines generation (jenəˈrā sh ən) as all of the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively. The average period, generally considered is to be about thirty years, during which time children are born, grow up, become adults, and begin to have children of their own.  I consider anyone born between 1975 and 1995 to be apart of my generation.  Here are some possible names I created:

Strange - big hair bands, the mullet, scrunch socks, mini trucks, grunge, and the artist formerly known as Prince just to name a few

Righteous - many people feel entitled to a piece of the proverbial pie, but do not want to pay

Dependent -  we live at home during our formative years, leave the nest to find ourselves, then move back in with mom because she will do everything for us

Connected - thank you Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, and Steve Jobs

Tired - we are tired of bad press, inaccurate labels, broken homes, and politics

What would you call this generation?  Why?
