Snow Day = Movie Day

If you are reading this you already know - there is no school in Hopkins County today because of snow/ice.

I love snow days! I abandon my teaching responsibilities, forget the documentation, push aside the stacks of artwork awaiting a grade, and watch movies all day.  My children share this desire too.

Direct quote from Matthew this morning after the revelation of no school, "So, I can watch the entire Cars 2 today?"

I cannot realistically digest the visual stimulation continuously so I periodically draw or read during intermission.

This particular snow day occurs in a unique setting.  Yesterday school dismissed two hours early, today no school, Saturday and Sunday are the weekend, and Monday school is out for Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.  An extreme allotment of time for film consumption now exist.

For breakfast this morning Amy and I watched four episodes of White Collar.  I have a small chore list to accomplish first, then for lunch I will be watching the Social Network.  Dinner reservations have not yet been made, but I speculate the remaining episodes of season two for White Collar will be played followed by a viewing of Finding Forrester for desert.

I possess a fondness for movies that require thought, intellect, and mystic.  Please do not infer I believe to be above a Chris Farley or Adam Sandler movie.  I too think "You are not cool, unless you pee your pants."

I truly enjoy a film where I can answer yes to all three questions:
1. Did the cinematography enhance the film?
2. Did I have to pay attention to every detail?
3. Did I learn anything from watching this film?

Here are few titles I  recommend:
Little Miss Sunshine
Good Will Hunting
Dead Poet Society
Fight Club
Into the Wild
Seven Pounds
Sahara
Three Kings
The Perfect Storm
The Butterfly Effect
Black Hawk Down
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
Spy Game
The Last Samurai

These are all in my personal library, but Netflix has even more possibilities.  Do you have any recommendations?  Please share.
